Default Accounts hacked/banned?

What do I do if a hacker has gotten my account banned?

I had recently booted up GW after a long time of being absent (last GW i purchased was collectors Nightfall) and was intent on getting my Dervish higher than lvl 11 when i was greeted with the message that my account was permanently banned for 3rd party programs. At first I was rightly confused about this and decided to check with support to see what i can do. Well, the ask a question function in support is down, and i can't send my inquiry to GW support about what happened.

For one thing, I know about the users agreements and know that 3rd party programs means hackers..well..i think. But I absolutely abhor those types of people who play games unfairly. I DID notice that some times during the day, I was unable to login to my GW account..so I suspect that some malicious hacker had gotten into my account and done something in it to get it banned. Im fairly sad about this, as this was an account that I had for almost a 1 1/2 years and have purchased all campaigns for. No, i have not bought items with real money, nor do i have enough computing knowledge to BE a hacker. I'm quite worried about this and how a single malicious person could utterly rob me of almost $170 dollars worth of GW games in the space of time i was gone.

Are there any suggestions as to how i can perhaps regain my account, change its password/username, and make it unable for that same hacker to attack me again? Or is it a lost cause?

Lost cause, once your banned Anet seldom changes their decision.

Ah..well then the hackers win, i guess. well, i guess people get robbed everyday and i just happen to be one more. But can't ArenaNet investigate and at least bring the guy who hacked my account to justice?

Sorry to hear about it, not sure if I could take someone doing this to me so well.

Good luck dude/dudette.

It's possible that if you really, truly did absolutely nothing wrong that it's not a hacker and a mistake on Anet's part. There have been several cases where people were "unjustly" banned and Anet reversed the decision.

It took a whole lot of bitching though.

Well, ive been trying to contact GW support but their 'ask a question' support is experiencing an 'internal server error' But, if possible, ill go to any lengths to get my account back. I know something is wrong here. I've played for some time and haven't engaged in any illegal activities at all in any game i've played. I don't want something like this to happen to me on GW, not when Eye of the North got me hooked on it again..after so much. I'm sure if Anet looks into it, they can find the real culprit...

But, is there any other way to contact ArenaNet other than that 'ask a question' thing?

I didn't read in your post saying whether or not you used 3rd party programs.

So I have to ask, did you use 3rd party programs?

If you did, then you're a lost cause. You should know better!! :S

If you didn't use a 3rd party program, then you have to send a support ticket and get help from there.

sort of. Using 3rd party programs may contain malicious software that hackers use to get into your account. But in saying that, the user agreement says that your account will be banned if you use 3rd party programs at all - in summary that is.

No, i haven't used 3rd party programs. I doubt that i could find a third party program, and i do know what constitutes as one. I strive to maintain integrity in anything i do. And i've been trying to send in a support ticket but for some odd reason, the thing is down..

Did you check for adware/spyware/keyloggers on your rig? If you don't have any, then no one hacked your account, they just figured out your password after you gave out your log in email. Do you register at other sites with the same email address, because that will do it.

Knowing the sins can stop you unknowingly sinning.

There is a chance you've been on a website that looks totally legit and it has installed a "keylogger" on your pc. Do a virus scan, then do another deeper one. Then download a better anti virus and do another scan. Make sure you have an up-to date firewall. Never ever ever log on at another location other than your home... Don't even log in at a friend's house they could have unknowingly installed a keylogger.

I don't know..i'll try scanning my computer now. It's been quite a while but would one of those break the user agreement? Well, there was one time where i had used my email to register, but that was a long time ago..

No, i don't have any spyware, i think.

Ill continue to inquire Anet, but the ticket submission form is still down, or it won't let me submit it. If they had wrongly banned me, and it wasn't a hacker, then I am even more confused on how they could have done this.

Sorry bout the above double post. I accidentally pressed the button too much.

But, yea i have rescanned my PC again, and have found nothing. I just hope ArenaNet can at least get my ticket because the support forum and the submission form are NOT working.

This could potentially aid you if you can specifically state the time that this occurrence happened. I'm not sure by how much though.

Hackers generally don't leave you access to your own account, so there is a possibility that it could be an unintentional ban. You just have to act like a sad puppy and plead to Anet that it could have been a mistake, either on your part or theirs.

I'm trying to plead..*sigh* The times were around night, mostly. And i wouldn't be able to go on until well around 12 PM.
Well, if its an unintentional ban, all i have to do is plead my case and SURELY justice will prevail, right? Where's a judge when i need one..

Well, is there any other way that i can contact ArenaNet? Support forums and the ticket submisison are still down. its a sad day today..i hope i can solve this problem.

Don't know of another way to contact support. It is unusual that it would be down, however. I'd keep trying every hour or so. I'm sure it will be back up soon.

I think what you have to do is, not "bitch", but annoy Anet till they are ready to shoot themselves. You need proof which could be hard since you haven't been on. If you have a 3rd party program on your computer than maybe a sibling downloaded, that could be the cause of it also.

Had a member in my guild get banned for a 3rd party program. He found out his brother was the cause of it. He was able to actually contact us via email, and see if we could see if his account was still active. Low and behold the hacker was on it at that time. I started pming the account like crazy, and once again lightning struck in the same spot. The hacker started to actually talk to me, and went on to say he was a hacker and that the person who owned the account was an idiot for letting in a 3rd party program. I took screenshots, sent them to Anet. The next day, he had his account back and was able to change the PW and clear off his computer.

You say you didn't sign on for a while. You sure some1 else in your house didn't sign on for fun to see what it was, and accidently downloaded a program.

Good luck mate. Keep pushing to get it back.

You might have a chance if you're a prominent forum member or otherwise famous in "the community". If you're relatively unknown, then be prepared to give up or cough up to buy another copy of GW again, like my friend did.

In any case, if you've truly used no 3rd party program, then I wish you good luck on this.

Well, as soon as i can get a message to ArenaNet, i can see if I can push for my account back. Can anyone try sending something through ask a question at PlayNC support and see if the internal Server error is in their server? its been on for some time.
